At heart I am a simple man, in at least as much as any of God’s creation can be called simple. My interests and aims tend to concentrate on the less complex. God, family, friends and the rest. God has blessed me with family and friends, who in turn bless me with support of the venture that is CrossGrain Woodcraft. My aim is to honor those blessings through the pursuit of genuine quality in the creation of each and every piece I am commissioned to craft.
The approach I take to design, and woodwork in general, echoes that simple approach to life. As it stands, CrossGrain Woodcraft is a one man shop. That allows for control from beginning to end of a project. Choosing material, laying out individual boards, picking joints, and adjusting as needed. Everything is worked with the goal of taking an idea from vision to reality. A solid piece that will last for generations.
Toss away culture has no place in the CrossGrain Woodcraft world. Every piece is built with solid hardwood, regionally sourced. Wood to wood traditional joinery techniques are used whenever possible. This process can take some extra time. However, the benefits from the effort result in a piece of furniture that, with appropriate care, will outlast both the builder and the buyer. Quality takes time, but it is cheaper in the long run.
At CrossGrain Woodcraft you’ll get a beautifully handcrafted piece of furniture, be that table, bench, desk or buffet. But more than that, you’ll find a fully bespoke experience from design to delivery. The life of each piece, ingrained in the story of the build, provides a truly heirloom worthy quality.
Cheers!
